LAKE TAHOE AS A SUSTAINABLE DESTINATION: SUMMER TOUR – CIAO VALENTINA
Lake Tahoe is the perfect destination for a sustainable Californian vacation. Listed here are some recommended activities for your summer stay.
Lake Tahoe falls between California and Nevada and it will likely depend on your journey as to which side of the lake you visit. I stopped on the southern side of the lake in California. This area of the lake was perfect for me as I came from Las Vegas and I would then continue to San Francisco.
However, regardless of where you decide to stay, you will find breath-taking scenery, crystal clear waters, clean beaches, fresh air and relaxing walks.
Let’s see what to do if you only have 2 days available on the south side of the lake.
- Leave your car in the car-park and rent a bike. Choose the path that best suits you with map in hand. Don’t be afraid to struggle! Your buttocks will thank you and your carbon footprint will be zero!
- Once you’ve decided where to leave your bicycle, walk. There are some beautiful paths that you can take surrounded by greenery to reach the lake. I chose to go to Skunk Harbour (in the Nevada part) as it was recommended to me by hotel staff. A nice walk surrounded by the green of the forest. I highly recommend following the path and not becoming explorers if you don’t want to risk getting lost! Just like I did! Watch the video on my YouTube channel.
- Once you reach the lake choose from the many activities: canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, paragliding, jet skiing. Prices are around $ 25- $ 30 an hour, per person.
- You can also take the cable car that takes you to the top of the mountain and from here you have breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe from above. You have the opportunity to take part in group games. Responsible and Sustainable Lake Tahoe:
Sustainable travel is easier in some locations and Lake Tahoe is one of them. Crystal clear waters, green mountains, fresh and clean air and the possibility of activities which immerse you into nature. I don’t think I have much more to add – being surrounded by nature is essential to revive the senses.
