Being a habit doesn’t suit me. Since I became a minimalist, I have adopted habits that have certainly facilitated this path. In this blog, I want to show you my 15 minimalist habits easy, to adopt now.
So let’s start with this practical list about the 15 minimalist habits easy to adopt now.
1) Keep tidiness
This is one of the hardest things I’ve started to do, and it has become a habit. I have never been a tidy person, on the contrary, the disorder is a form of expression for me, but keeping order helps a lot not only to understand what objects you have and there is no need to buy new ones, but also to maintain inner peace. Waking up in the morning and finding order in the rooms helps to keep concentration high and stay focused on the activities we have to carry out.
2) Spend time in nature
Spending time in nature helps to free the mind and relax, allowing us to regain calm by moving away from negative thoughts and rebalancing our inner balance.
3) Be silent
Even though I like talking and begin with friends and family, sometimes I feel the need to get away from the world, even for just half a day. I feel the need to find time to be silent and give order to the thoughts that crowd in my mind and that maybe are conditioned by others. This is a habit that I have always had and did without feeling its weight. In fact, I would say the opposite! I only feel the relief of giving this time of peace and intimate silence to myself.
4) Disconnect from the digital world
It seems almost impossible today our life revolves around social media. We live with devices permanently on which we are continuously active. I have learned, since I became a minimalist, not to look at the phone in the morning when I wake up, on the contrary, long ago it was the first thing I did. Now I wake up, do some stretching, have breakfast in silence, leaving the phone to one side, only then do I turn it on and check my emails and social media. Also, now I turn off the phone for a couple of hours while I’m working to focus on what I’m doing. Create breaks between us and social media, create moments in which our life goes on without using them so we are present in the things we do at that moment.
5) Understanding the value of things
We determine the value of things depends on how and when we use them. Understanding the objects worth helps us to keep what we really need and eliminate the rest.
6) Consume with awareness
Learning to consume consciously is a proper path, made up of many different steps. It begins with the choice of products starting from the packaging trying to eliminate plastic and move towards Zero Waste and bulk products, to the products themselves, moving towards everything organic and produced at km0 above all in an ethical way and in harmony with animals and the environment. Also, the consumption has to be based on the concept of not wasting anything and using everything you have until the end of its life cycle, storing food in the freezer if it is food, and using clothes until it’s possible to do it. Finally, the separate waste makes us understand that an object does not end its journey when it leaves our home but that it is essential to allocate it to the right place.
All these steps have to respect who produce food or an object. We must pay attention to what we buy and consume. Consuming with awareness is an act of respect for ourselves, for others and for the environment.
7) Decluttering
Initially, I didn’t like decluttering, now I do it gladly. Decluttering means eliminating what is not needed. When you move you are forced to decluttering. I recommend it also when you are not forced to ask yourself if you need something. If the answer is no, then you need to eliminate it. Decluttering is not only something that must be done on material things it also applies in relationships. We must ask ourselves what to carry on and what to eliminate, what are those relationships that make us happy and those from which it is good to take distance. I recommend decluttering once every two or three months, without upsetting the whole house, but maybe just opening a drawer or concentrating on a room, in small steps and little by little, but I assure you that it is needed and that it works.

8) Stop postponing
Not postponing is essential to streamline the load of things to do. Doing little by little every day helps not to find yourself having to do many things altogether. The secret is to organize and do things slowly day by day.
9) To-do list the night before
More than having a morning routine, I have an evening routine. I believe it is essential for my life to make a mental plan that translates into a list that I prepare the night before waking up in the morning already knowing what to do. Also, I like to do many small things at home in the evening it helps me in the morning finding order around me.
10) Learn to say NO!
Say no helps to get out from situations that are not good for us and to have more time to do the things we really enjoy. Saying no is essential to create space for the things that are important to us and that we do by being present to ourselves at that moment.
11) Find time for yourself
Saying no to the things we don’t really feel like we want to do allows us to carve out more time for ourselves. Having time for yourself is the way to create and maintain a balanced inner balance.
12) Show satisfaction
Show satisfaction to others, to ourselves and to the environment around us.
13) Listen more than talk
Listening in silence means giving time and listening to others, dedicating a space to someone where express themselves freely without being interrupted. Knowing when the speaker needs to let off steam and not intervene with other words, but offering sincere listening is the best way to participate in that conversation rather than interrupting it and blocking the flow of thoughts.
14) Exercise
I believe it is essential to activate the body with daily movement whether it is stretching or yoga or walking. Exercising helps keep us healthy, relieves stress and is good for our mood.
Last but not least of this list about the 15 minimalist habits easy to adopt now I have decided to insert:
15) Listen to your body
It is one of the habits of a minimalist: to understand when it is time to say enough and listen to your body and read the signals it is sending us. Understanding if the body communicates fatigue, need for movement, desire to dedicate time to oneself. We have to pay attention to the language that the body sends us.
